So, Japan has been amazing so far! I am 100% loving it over here. When we were flying over Tokyo I had tears in my eyes pretty much until we landed at Haneda airport. It was magical and perfect.
I just wanted to update about tonight, because it was also magical and perfect.
Ted and I went downstairs to have a quick and quiet dinner before passing out from a long, amazing day at Akihabara, and maybe 15 minutes into our meal a quite tipsy Japanese man came over to our table and started talking to us in English. He was very happy and charming and was asking how long we’d been in Japan, where we are from etc. He then invited us to his groups table and we said we might pop over when we finish dinner. So we ate up and paid for our meal and went to his table to say a quick hello.
That quick hello ended up being three hours long! His friends were at the table and a couple of students too, we all introduced ourselves and talked about where we were from, why we came to Japan, what we wanted to do and see. It was only him (Kakehi) and another man (also Kakehi!) that could speak English but they were encouraging the students to also trying speaking and they weren’t too bad either!
They kept encouraging us to drink more and insisted on buying us more drinks saying it was them welcoming us to Japan! They said they were so happy for us to be there and enjoying our time in Japan as well.
Kakehi wants us to get in touch again once when get back from Kyoto, Osaka, Nara etc so we can catch up and talk about what we have done and seen etc.
I have to say we were absolutely thrilled! I had such an amazing time tonight, it was so nice feeling so welcomed, everyone was so friendly and lovely, the two girls at the table said I was beautiful and that Ted and I were also beautiful together.
Everyone was so happy and jolly and it was just such a great night, especially as it was unexpected.
It was just great meeting some people and enjoying some drinks and conversation with them. It was great, really great.
I was smiling the whole time and I still am. I love Japan and so far the people have been amazing.
So, just wanted to write a quick entry about that, absolutely chuffed <3
